A little about Penny – Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)
Hi, I’m Penny Fletcher, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) and founder of Sprout Counselling. For over a decade, I’ve supported people of all ages, backgrounds, and neurotypes to reconnect with their strengths, navigate change, and make sense of life’s harder moments.
I draw on evidence-based and individually adapted cognitive-behavioural strategies, motivational interviewing, relaxation and skills training, and other applicable therapies.
For my work with eating disorders, I use the ‘gold-standard’ treatments- Family Based Therapy (FBT) for adolescents and children and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-e) for adults.
My practice is:
- Client-centred & collaborative: we set the pace together and adjust strategies to suit you.
- Holistic: exploring how your environment, relationships, and biology impact you
- Strength-based: helping you to understand your strengths and how to utilise them
- Neurodivergent-affirming & trauma-informed: creating safe, inclusive spaces for all clients, with consideration of autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent clients.
Everyone is unique, so every person needs an individually tailored approach. I respond to what’s working for you and adjust my approach as we go. I take the time to understand, reflect back what I hear, and then adapt to support you.
As an AMHSW, sessions may attract a Medicare rebate under a Mental Health Treatment Plan or Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan from your GP.
